The prices quoted above are for non-commercial use. If you wish to hire me for commercial character
design, the price is double for non-exclusive use and quadruple for exclusive use. Non-exclusive use
means that you have the right to sell the product commercially as much as you like, but I also have
the right to sell prints and merchandise of the artwork. Exclusive use means that I forfeit all rights
to profit from the artwork, though I am able to display it in my portfolio or on my website.
YOUR COMMISSION
Please note that unless specified, I do not work on a time frame. The reason for this is because timing
is dependant on how many commissions I have as well as how brisk my own Home Business is. If you need
artwork done by a date which is closer than a 2 WEEK period then I will not accept the commission.
If you DO have a dealine as it is a gift for an occasion, please specify the due date and allow for changes.
I am the first to admit that I am not the fastest renderer. I prefer to take my time and ensure that you
have the quality work you expect from me than something quickly made that would have been three times better
if given the proper time.
I retain all rights to all of the artwork that I create, but you are allowed to use your commissioned piece
in any way you wish so long as it is for non-profit. What this means is that you may use and minimally
modify the artwork for purposes such as your website, but that you cannot sell prints or any other form of
merchandise using the artwork, nor can you sell the rights to the work to someone else.
Here is a rough description of the process for a commission:
You will send your request via email. Please be as descriptive as you can be for what you want. This initial
email does not need to have reference links or character descriptions, only information such as the sex of
the characters, their race, how many characters, backgrounds or no, CD or no, etc.
I will review your request and either accept or deny it depending on how feesable it is for me to create
the work you ask for. If I accept, I will quote you the price based on what you have requested. Should you
ask for additional things afterward, the price will be modified accordingly.
Once you've accepted my quote and sent me atleast the first half of your payment as well as links to
whatever reference material you have and a more complete and detailed description of your character, you
will be queued to a list of commissioners.
I will more than likely present
you with an initial sketch as soon as possible. The inking and final coloring, however, will only be done
once I have finished all other applicants before you. The starting of the inked drawing initiates the
working process for your commission. Priority is first come first serve UNLESS someone has specified a
specific time frame. Then that person has priority.
You will be shown the artwork for apporval at three
different intervals. Initial sketch (which won't be in any way pretty) will give you an idea of the pose I
wish to use as well as the rough facial expressions. Inking will give you a sense of the solid lines
so that you can see if you like the way the final outcome will be, and the Final Colored version.
I will not show you the artwork after Inking until it is fully colored. The reason for this is because
incomplete artwork is exactly that, incomplete. It is hard to make changes when you don't know where the
artist is going with the final outlook and how many times an artist will rework certain areas.
Once a low res version of the final art is shown and accepted, the commissioner will send payment for the
rest of the commission (unless already done and paid in full). Once payment is received, I will send the
commissioner a link to the high res version of the artwork as well as either an attachment or a link to a
higher res .jpg than the initial one shown. The work will then be displayed on both Deviant Art and my
website.
When you choose to commission me, here is what the prices listed above entail for you:
1- You are entitled to 3 viewing of the commissioned work, once for the initial sketch, once for the inked
version and once for the final version. Of course, if you've initialed a revision, the new version will be
shown to you for approval.
2- You are entitled to FOUR REVISIONS throughout the whole procedure. This means that is if you do not like
the way an initial sketch is done, you can ask for it to be changed or adjusted (this stage is the only
stage where you can ask to have the sketch completely redone). Or if you liked the sketch and made no
changes but don't like small elements of the inked version, you can have that changed up to 4 times.
You have the right to make these revisisons at any stage of the process including the final colored stage.
HOWEVER, this does NOT mean that after I have completed the colored version of the drawing, I will recolor
the entire piece or anything that means more than 30% of the drawing will be changed. A revision is not a
redo. It is a minor adjustment.
3- You are entitled to a high res version of your finished drawing with either an .eps or .psd file
extension as well as a lower res .jpg version.
When you choose to commission me, you agree to the following:
1- To pay upfront atleast half of the commission price. Should you reconsider your commission after it has
been started and wish to terminate our aggreement, this half will not be reimbursed. If you pay full price
initially and wish to cancel your order after it has been started, you will be reimbursed half of the payed
price. The work is considered officially initiated after I email you telling you the Inked version has been
started.
2- Not to redistribute or sell or merchandize any of the artwork commissioned in any way where you or a
second hand party will make a profit from the artwork.
Thank you to everyone who has bothered to read all this and who will be commissioning me in the future.
I highly appreciate the business you will be giving me and look forward to a wonderful friendship!
